Terms of use

These terms describe what you can expect from Rust Data Lab, and what we ask of you.

What the site is. Rust Data Lab reads public Rust server data from Steam's public server list and from the servers themselves, refreshed every five minutes. We measure and display; we do not run or moderate any server listed.

Accuracy. Data is a snapshot, not a promise. A server can report a wipe late, publish a name that is not true, or show a player count that lags behind. Compare a figure with the server itself before you rely on it.

Using the site. Browsing and comparing servers needs no account and no payment. Avoid rapid automated requests: they slow the site for everyone else. If you want a bulk copy of the data, write to hello@rustdatalab.org and we will discuss it.

Crawlers and AI tools. Search engines, bots and AI crawlers may read the site. Check robots.txt and llms.txt first for what lives where, and keep your fetch rate low enough that ordinary visitors still get fast pages.

Server owners. A server appears because it is on the public list. Its page shows what the server publishes: name, tags, wipe times, slots. To change what we display, change it on the server; most edits are picked up within five minutes.

Independence. Rust Data Lab has no connection with Facepunch Studios. Rust is a trademark of Facepunch Studios.

Changes. We may revise these terms without notice. The date below shows the last revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Questions

Can I use Rust Data Lab data in my own project?

You may browse and compare servers freely. If you want a bulk copy of the dataset, email hello@rustdatalab.org and we will discuss what you need. Keep request rates modest so other visitors are not slowed.

How often is the server data updated?

The site reads from Steam's public server list and from servers directly, and figures refresh every five minutes. Between refreshes you are looking at the previous snapshot. A server editing its own name or wipe time is usually reflected within that window.

Why is my server listed without my permission?

Listing follows from being on the public Rust server list: we read what the server publishes and show it. To change a name, tag, wipe time or slot count, change it on the server and we will pick it up. Rust Data Lab does not control what a server reports.
