Each quick link is a small sample of its list: the current headcount and the three servers with the most players online at the moment you load the page. Those three can change between refreshes, so treat them as a reading, not a fixed ranking. To see the whole list or check a server's wipe timer and settings, open the full page.
Where a list rests on settings a server publishes, such as a team limit or a gather rate, we say so, and a server only appears if its own listing matches. A 1.5x list, for example, holds servers that advertise 1.5x, not a guess at their pace. If a category is thin, the count will show it; we would rather show a short list than pad it.
If you want to test something yourself, the server browser lets you narrow by region, type, group limit and wipe schedule, and the live player count shows the population measured across all servers. The next force wipe is worth checking before you commit to a fresh start.

By live players only. Positions come from measured player counts, not votes, reviews or payments, and no one buys a place on a list. If a placement were ever sold, it would be marked as sponsored and kept out of the ranking order. The counts refresh every five minutes, so a quiet server drops down.
Because they are a snapshot. The three shown are whichever servers in that list had the most players online when the page last refreshed, and populations move through the day and after a wipe. A server busy at 20:00 may be quiet at 04:00. Use the full list if you want a steadier picture over the past week.
Start with the group size you play in, then narrow by region, then by gather rate if you want a particular pace. Region matters because an evening in one time zone is the middle of the night in another, so the busiest server in a region follows the clock. If you are new, the beginner list is the simplest place to compare.
